Pets enrich our lives in so many ways. We care for them, love them, they keep us company… But how do you know which one is right for you? Your zodiac sign can help identify your ideal pet.
Aries (21/3-19/4): A Boston Terrier – bursting with energy, small and tough, he’s ready to go when you are.
Taurus (20/4-20/5): A tortoise – slow and steady, peaceful. They are unobtrusive, low-cost, they don’t require your constant attention and live for many years.
Gemini (21/5-20/6): A talking parrot – you’ll have a gas together. Cockatoos and Macaws are the most common parrots of choice because of their incredible linguistic skills.
Cancer (21/6-22/7): A pet with special needs – ideal for you as you’ve got so much love to give. You’ll shower it with love and affection and your pet will get the attention it deserves.
Leo (23/7-22/8): A strong feline like a tiger or lion, or alpha male or female cat. Maybe even a serval (African wild cat) which is not a protected species. It doesn’t come cheap, but it was the pet of the pharaohs.
Virgo (23/8-22/9): A ferret – quiet, friendly, curious, intelligent. It makes a fascinating companion.
Libra (23/9-22/10): Knowing how you struggle to make up your mind, why not have more than one pet? Provided you have the time and space. Choose different animals, though and they’ll be a boon to your life in many ways.
Scorpio (23/10-21/11): A snake – ideal for you, but unsettling for others. It’s secretive, mysterious and sometimes unpredictable, like you. It needs careful looking after, a special diet and a vet that’s knowledgeable about reptiles.
Sagittarius (22/11-21/12): A horse – wild and free. If you don’t have the space, opt for a greyhound. It’s a well-behaved breed that gets on well with other species, has oodles of energy, and makes a wonderful companion.
Capricorn (22/12-19/1): An Akita – a dignified, brave and loyal breed that make good guard dogs and pets. They don’t do well in very hot climates though and need daily exercise.
Aquarius (20/1-18/2): A hamster – give him a cage with an intricate setup of tubes, wheels and sensors. You’ll have fun watching him and he’ll appreciate it. Take them out of your room at night if you want to sleep, though!
Pisces (19/2-20/3): A fish – an obvious choice, perhaps. Their movements have an almost hypnotic ability to help you forget the outside world. They’re easy to keep and you can let your creativity run wild when designing their tank.
