Interiors 2023, the essentials

Make a note of this season’s must-haves for living rooms and terraces. Lighting comes in all shapes and sizes, from floor lamps to table lamps in simple designs with ball lampshades or exposed bulbs, sitting on marble or stone pedestals for your reading corner or atmospheric lighting. Furniture should be shapely in white, beige, black or green curves. Cushions are also a must, especially in alternate colourways for pretty pzazz.

Floors are not complete without colourful rugs in wool or cotton. Choose from plain block colours in lighter shades with stripes or geometric motifs. Floral and leafy prints are still trending. In fact, surround yourself with nature by adding plants, flowers, vertical gardens, natural murals, and botanical prints for the perfect antidote to bare urban environments.

For a touch of elegance, add shiny metallics in gold or copper. Better still, combine with black metallic ornaments for an extra pop of class.

Stone features heavily this season. Whether natural or synthetic, it looks sleek and elegant on table tops and lampstands. It also goes a long way to achieving that neoclassical look that’s so much in vogue. Artisan details are the new luxury item; think baskets, hand-woven textiles, paintings or artists’ illustrations.

The general vibe in accessories is less is more minimalism. A few beautiful pieces chosen with care for their sentimental value speak volumes.
