Maybe you’re driving, maybe you’re on a health kick, maybe you simply fancy a cool non-alcoholic drink with a difference – smoothies and slushies, eat your heart out!
If you want an alternative to slushies, iced infusions, lemonades with exotic touches, frappes and smoothies then welcome to the world of mocktails – non-alcoholic cocktails which are all the rage and perfect for summer.
Take three parts tomato juice, a squeeze of lemon juice, salt and pepper. Add a dash of wasabi and shake vigorously. Serve with crushed ice and garnish with a basil leaf, a sprig of thyme and a sprig of rosemary.
Coconut, pineapple, kiwi and curaçao mocktail
Ingredients are a whole kiwi, two shots each of coconut milk and pineapple juice and a spoonful of cocktail syrup or gum syrup. Add the 3 finishing touches of a shot lime juice, one of lemon juice and another of non-alcoholic curaçao.
Peel and dice the kiwi and put it in a glass with lots of ice. Mix all the ingredients in the shaker. Shake vigorously and pour into the glass. Serve with straws and garnish with a few sprigs of mint.
Avocado margarita mocktail
You need a ripe avocado, a cup of lime juice, half a cup of tonic, half a cup of orange juice, a tablespoon of chopped coriander, a pinch of cayenne and ice.
Place all the ingredients, including ice, in a blender, except for the garnish, and blend until smooth. Prepare a salty rim by rubbing the rim of the glass with a little lemon juice, sprinkle with salt then once blended carefully pour out the virgin margarita. Garnish with a few slices of jalapeño and a wedge of lime.
Grapefruit and kombucha mocktail
Take a large grapefruit, a lime, ice and 600 ml. of kombucha (red fruit flavour). Garnish with rosemary and grapefruit slices.
Squeeze the grapefruit and add the juice of the lime to the grapefruit juice. Blend. Add the kombucha, stir again and set aside for a few minutes. Place the ice, a sprig of rosemary and grapefruit slice in the glasses, pour and enjoy!
