Valo Hyperfoil 100% electric hydrofoiling vehicle with wings

It will hit the market in 2024, but the first units could be ready by this summer 2023 – ready to reserve yours?

U.S. startup Boundary Layer Technologies, founded in 2018 in California, is set to launch the Valo Hyperfoil. A high-performance, semi-autonomous, 100% electric hydro foiling vehicle with wings that lift you up to 60 cm above the water. It can be pre-ordered via www.ridevalo.com/reserve, with a $1,000 deposit. Prices start at $59,000 U.S. dollars.

Performance data differ slightly depending on which source you check out, with some publications suggesting a top speed of 50 knots (93 km/h). However, according to the company’s website, it boasts an autonomous range of 2.3 hours on a single charge and a top speed of 42 mph (67.59 km/h or
36.4 knots).

Prepare for an exhilarating ride as you board the Valo hydrofoil, hit the throttle and accelerate from 0 to 45 mph in 8 seconds. Slice through the waves with barely a sound, minimal wake and zero emissions. The Skyride flight control software and stability system combine to create precise balance, elevation and agility that is simply not possible on a conventional jetski.

The Valo is 3.5 metres long by 1.2 metres wide, with a draft of 40 cm or 1.3 m, depending on the point of deployment of its wings. It weighs in at 270 kilos (empty) and can carry a maximum total weight of 465 kilos.
