Janubio Salt Pans

The Janubio Salt Pans form a checkerboard pattern that is one of the most iconic sights on Lanzarote. Although they are a legacy from the past representing the island’s former industry, today the salt pans flourish as a prosperous private enterprise. Nowadays, only part of the salt pans is in use in what is one of the largest in the Canaries and the only one still in use on the island. Its focus now is on placing its salt at the forefront of gourmet cuisine. Nearby is a beach of the same name – wild, beautiful and remote.
