Green Interiors

‘Green-Pocalypse’ is the latest home decoration trend that’s all about filling your home with various shades of fresh, vibrant green. It’s a colour that’s easy to mix ‘n’ match and incorporate into your home. According to Design Trends report 22/23, our romantic appreciation for all things green has come about as a result of increasing climate anxiety and disconnection from our natural environment.

As interior designers know, colour has the power to affect emotions which is why ‘Green-Pocalypse’ is being used to create havens of calm serenity in any room in the house. Green acts as a balm for our senses, so it’s good to give it prominence but balance out its use. With allegedly 10 million shades of green perceptible to the human eye, it’s fair to say there are plenty of choices available; it all depends on the mood you want to create. Darker shades are classical and elegant, whilst lighter, brighter greens are fresh and youthful.

Greens are not limited to paint colours; plant motif wallpaper used strategically on an accent wall makes a dramatic statement. If you don’t want to redecorate, you can revamp your home with indoor plants, one-off pieces of furniture and soft furnishings that play with different textures and shades of green. Creative use of lighting can also be used to separate spaces, especially in open-plan rooms.
