Even if you’ve got a clear idea of how you want to decorate your home, it’s always good to get a second opinion – Luckily there are various apps you can use that’ll provide great style ideas and design solutions

The world of mobile phone applications now includes home décor! Some apps are general, others are specific and many of them are free. If you’re planning to decorate, reorganise, refurbish or even renovate your home, use your mobile to check out these apps full of great ideas and resources.

Magic Plan (magicplan.app)

Allows you to generate a floor plan of the room you want to decorate and then uses augmented reality to arrange your furniture and estimate the work needed. All you have to do is take a photo of the space, input measurements and voilà!

You Can Deco (youcandeco.com)

If you have a refurbishment in the pipeline, look no further than this app which provides answers to three key questions: How much will it cost? What quality of products will be used? Who will guarantee their work? Advice comes from an interior design coach and you also get a free 3D image to help visualise the space before you’re tempted to start knocking down walls.

Drywall (snappyappz.com)

Helps you to easily calculate the square metres of a room, thanks to its technical know-how.

Photo Measures (cubent.com)

Take a photo of the room, upload with measurements and when buying furniture, you’ll always have this info’ to hand. A free version, Photo Measures Lite, is also available, but with fewer options.

Kitchen Planner 3D (es.kitchenplanner.net)

This free kitchen planner gives you the tools to tailor make a kitchen to your needs. Choose its design, style and features (breakfast bar and/or island etc.) arrange the furniture, confirm the style and use the printable 3D floor plan.

Planner 5D (planner5d.com)

To preview the flow of rooms and positioning of walls, use the virtual floor planner to plan the room as is or start from scratch. Its catalogue of over 3,000 items means you can get creative as you integrate furniture, features, change colours and materials. When you’re happy with the design, it can be saved in 3D format.

Paint My Place (paintmyplace.mobi)

Envisage what your room would look like in different colourways, including furniture. Upload a photo of your room and select your chosen colour from 25 different paint manufacturers. You can try it out as many times as you like, save your ideas, share with friends and once your decision is made, just send to the decorator!

Handyman Calculator (Handyman Calculator)

Helps you calculate the quantity of paint or finishes you’ll need for each room. It also lets you input prices to calculate budgets and includes tutorials to help make the most of the app.
