Nautical Christmas decorations

The coastal or nautical Christmas look has been a recognised decorating style for several years, offering an alternative to the classic red and green Christmas of fir trees and snow. It features among the trends for 2026, although it has been gathering momentum since 2025 in interiors publications such as House Beautiful.

An Atlantic-inspired palette of white, blue, sand and other natural tones brings a festive sea breeze into the home. Wood, rope, wicker, plant fibres and glass sit alongside starfish, shells, fish, miniature boats, lighthouses and other seaside motifs, adorning trees, wreaths, garlands and table centrepieces. White lights provide the festive touch without disturbing the fresh, relaxed and natural aesthetic.

In Lanzarote, the look can be taken one step further with a volcanic twist. White and blue can be combined with black and other shades of lava, alongside nautical details rooted in the island’s fishing heritage: fish traps, traditional fish-drying racks, glass floats and coils of rope. Ultimately, it is about bringing art, nature and landscape together in a bright and unmistakably Atlantic Christmas, swapping reindeer for fish and snow for sea foam.
