Convertible Cars 2026

At the pinnacle of open-air motoring, premium convertibles occupy a category of their own. This year’s newcomers each bring a distinct character, philosophy and a singular interpretation of luxury.

In a segment where quality, performance and refinement are often closely matched, premium convertibles compete above all on identity. They are four-wheeled declarations of how each brand interprets roof-down driving and the joy of the open road. Whether it is British poise, Italian passion, German precision or the growing ambition of Asian luxury, each creates a world where driving with the wind in your hair still feels faintly rebellious.

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider is pure emotion. It is less a machine and more a work of art in motion; an object of desire that defies logic and speaks directly to the heart. Italian styling, unmistakable Pininfarina DNA and, beneath the bonnet, a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 640 bhp.

A true style icon, the Aston Martin DB12 Volante embodies a quintessentially British elegance: restrained, aristocratic and timeless. Its refined four-litre straight-six delivers a persuasive 282 bhp with effortless authority. This is a car whose presence does not need to shout; it murmurs. The interior’s impeccable craftsmanship and understated luxury are evocative of a private members’ club somewhere deep in the countryside.

German muscle and cutting-edge technology come together in the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC Cabriolet. Its 3.0-litre straight-six produces 472 bhp with mild-hybrid assistance. Even standing still, its purposeful silhouette projects power and solidity. Curiously, it is the only semi-electrified model in this group, proof that at this level of luxury, many convertible enthusiasts still prefer their petrol undiluted.

Also arriving this year, though from further afield, are the American Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible and the Lexus LC 500 Convertible, Japan’s interpretation of open-top luxury. Meanwhile, new Asian manufacturers are beginning to approach the segment from an entirely different perspective. As for prices, perhaps it is best not to ask. In these circles, talking about money feels rather vulgar.
