8R, John Deere’s autonomous tractor

Also at the CES 2022 fair was agricultural machinery manufacturer John Deere, there to announce their all-new 8R autonomous tractor, which is set to go into large-scale production for delivery in the United States later this year. The John Deere 8R driverless tractor will plough fields on its own. It is equipped with a TruSet enabled chisel plough, six pairs of stereo cameras for 360-degree obstacle detection and distance calculation, a GPS guidance system, multiple sensors, AI management and other new technologies that allow it to be guided through the field within 2.5 centimetres (1 inch) of accuracy. The farmer can monitor its progress with a smartphone app that provides real-time data and video.
