Fuschia Pink Floyd burger buns

Domi Vélez, crowned the world’s best baker in 2021 by the Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC), has created a fuchsia-coloured burger bun that he’s christened the ‘Pink Floyd’. According to Chef Vélez, who hails from Lebrija, Seville, this perfectly pink creation is best enjoyed with a delicious Iberian pork burger or rich red meat patty and is ideally paired with a dry white wine to fully appreciate its
complex flavours.
The bun’s vibrant pink hue comes from beetroot, which, combined with a wheat sourdough base and other surprising ingredients like honey and refined sunflower oil, creates a truly unique flavour. While not suitable for coeliacs, it is made without refined sugars and is lactose-free.
Each bun weighs about 80 grams and retails at €1.90. It is best enjoyed fresh, though it can be frozen. Otherwise, it should be stored in a cool, dry place away from the light.
Unsurprisingly, this eye-catching creation has become a global trend, with numerous franchises developing their own beetroot-coloured pink buns as a flagship product for their premium burgers.
It’s a delicious reminder that food can be both beautiful and incredibly tasty. So, next time you’re craving a burger, think pink and ask for the Pink Floyd. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a burger experience that’s sure to leave you tickled pink.
