Take years off your appearance! Facial yoga can help you relax and release accumulated stress, oxygenate your skin, activate and tone your facial muscles, and improve circulation. It’s like a natural facelift!
Just as yoga improves your body’s flexibility, yoga for the face offers numerous benefits, culminating in rejuvenated skin. Suitable for all ages and skin types, it involves a series of stretches, toning exercises, and massages that help maintain the strength and elasticity of all facial muscles, restoring a youthful appearance. Best of all, it only takes a few minutes of your time, but for optimal results, be consistent.
According to this discipline, the face, like the body, has numerous energy points. By exercising these points, just as in traditional yoga, you work both the physical and emotional planes, with improvements in one area benefiting the other. These internal benefits are reflected externally. By oxygenating the skin, stimulating blood flow, and releasing tension, the positive effects are visible not only on the face but also on the neck and décolletage – often considered the so-called ‘problem areas’.
One of the most valued benefits of facial yoga is its ability to combat facial wrinkles and fine lines. The increased oxygenation from stimulated blood circulation activates and enhances the dermis’s production of collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin regains its tone and elasticity, toxins are removed, and the appearance of wrinkles is reduced.
The recommended facial yoga routine includes toning and muscle resistance exercises, working from the neck up towards the forehead. Ideally, it should be done five times a week, for fifteen minutes, with fifteen repetitions of each exercise.
For the forehead
Place your fingertips on your forehead and gently move them upwards causing your eyes to open wide. Then, raise your eyebrows several times, being careful not to create any new wrinkles.
For the eye area
To combat and prevent wrinkles around the eyes, try this exercise: Move your eyes from left to right, and then from right to left. After that, repeat the movement by looking up and down. Remember to keep your face completely still during these motions; only your eyes should be moving.
Cheeks and cheekbones
With your lips pressed inwards, place your index fingers on the corners of your mouth and apply gentle pressure to pull outwards and inwards. Ten repetitions are recommended.
