Sofas with Enveloping Comfort

Comfort and cosiness are driving the new wave of deep-seated, enveloping sofas made for proper lounging. They offer an accessible kind of luxury: the welcoming sanctuary you sink into at the end of the day. As the trend spreads across Europe, it also signals a clear shift away from the rigid cool of minimalism.

Often described as ‘soft lounge’, these sofas favour curved, organic shapes and modular pieces that can be configured to suit the room. The style is relaxed but still refined, blending Italian elegance with Scandinavian simplicity. They pair beautifully with plush rugs, rounded tables and low, ambient lighting.

Comfort comes not only from gentle curves and rounded silhouettes, but also from velvety textures, visible quilting and upholstery that feels good to the touch. The colour palette spans warm, muted tones such as sand, camel and terracotta, alongside deeper neutrals like anthracite, softer jewel shades such as moss green, and lighter notes of off-white and matte ivory.

This new direction is already appearing in catalogues from Ligne Roset, Natuzzi, Rolf Benz and Kave Home, and it may well set the standard for 2027.
