Ibizan Stone Space – Casa Decor

U Interior Design Studio unveils the Piedra de Ibiza Space at the 60th edition of Casa Decor with ‘Ibiza’s Soul’, where Ibizan stone commands the limelight and steals the show.

The Piedra de Ibiza space presents a hotel lobby concept, aptly named ‘Ibiza’s Soul’. The entire design revolves around the quiet power of a single material: Ibizan stone. By placing this stone at centre stage, the project explores the relationship between luxury, time, and materiality, transforming a typically warm, welcoming space into a monolithic homage to its timeless elegance.

The space highlights the rich character of Ibizan stone in all its different varieties, from grey to red and from polished to raw finishes. Every vein, every texture, and every subtle shade of the stone tells a story of the island it comes from. Quarried directly on Ibiza, it stands the test of time and challenges conventional notions of comfort and functionality, while adding undeniable beauty. It has an innate ability to elevate an everyday, transitional space into a habitable piece of sculpture.

Laura Huerta, Director of Interior Design at U Interior Design and part of the team alongside Laura Pérez and Antonio Guillamón, is the lead designer of this space at Spain’s major interior design and decoration fair. She defines Ibiza’s Soul as; “the stone’s soul set in a space of timeless luxury,” adding: “With this design concept, we wanted to go beyond mere aesthetics and offer a sensory experience that captures the island’s essence and transports it into the heart of Madrid.”

“It is also a challenge, a statement,” Huerta adds, continuing her description of the space. Ibiza’s Soul is not just an aesthetic statement; it is a material manifesto. Every surface, every texture, and every form and volume has been conceived to highlight the unique qualities of Ibizan stone: its luminosity, its tactile nature, its power to evoke the Mediterranean landscape. The space marries architectural elegance with an emotional language that invites you to pause, breathe, and connect with the idea of intimate, uncontrived luxury.”

Naturally, the Piedra de Ibiza space also harnesses the power of carefully controlled natural light and its interplay with the full power of the raw material, the design, and the creative synergies it unlocks, both in feature elements and the surface cladding.
