The RORC Transatlantic Race departs from Puerto Calero on 8th January, heading for the Caribbean with a spectacular fleet and high hopes of smashing records<\/em><\/h3>\n

The RORC Transatlantic Race has once again chosen Lanzarote as the point of departure for the race which will take place, for the second year running, in January. Event organisers, the eminent Royal Ocean Racing Club in association with the International Maxi Association (IMA) and the Yacht Club of France, expect a record number of entries and record-breaking crossing speeds in this, the 8th edition of the event.<\/p>\n

The impressive performance yachts will be berthed in Puerto Calero, ready for the race start. They include the 33 metre Comanche; up to four trimarans; TP52s; Volvo Ocean Race boats; IRC and Class 40, among others. It is a world class fleet that will cover, in a single leg, the 2,995 nautical miles (5,546.74 km) that separate Lanzarote from the finish line in Port Louis Marina, on the east coast of the Caribbean island of Grenada.<\/p>\n

\"RORC-Trasatlantic-Race\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sources from Puerto Calero have confirmed that Oliver Herrera from Fuerteventura is sure to be among the crew members on board the trimaran Maserati Multi 70, as well as Carlos Hern\u00e1ndez from Lanzarote, who will either be alongside him or on another of the super yachts entered in the race. These sources also assure us that, \u2018this eighth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race is going to be the most impressive fleet we have ever had moored in this marina.\u2019<\/p>\n
