This semi-submersible vehicle, still in the development phase, was designed by Rob Innes and Dan Piazza. It\u2019s a unique vessel, equally suited to cruising gently with its gull-wing doors open, or exhilarating rides leaping, diving, and reaching its declared top speed of 89 km\/h.<br \/>\nThe current Jet Shark Q is powered by a marine-adapted version of the new-generation Corvette\u2019s 6.2-litre V8 engine, producing 420 horsepower. The company plans to launch future models with supercharged engines boasting 600 hp, as well as diesel variants for commercial vessels. A fully electric version is also on the horizon, once battery systems and motor technologies are proven sufficiently safe and reliable for this type of watercraft.<br \/>\nThe cockpit controls and dashboard instrumentation are more reminiscent of a private jet than a conventional six-metre boat. All onboard functions can be controlled via the twin touch screen displays positioned at the front two pilot stations.<br \/>\nWhile the Jet Shark can only submerge just over a metre below the surface, its fixed snorkel\/camera pod acts like a submarine\u2019s periscope \u2013 always remaining above water so the pilot can monitor the surroundings via the onboard screens.<br \/>\nIf the vessel were to lose power for any reason, it would automatically return to the surface. Even if completely flooded, its static buoyancy would keep it afloat.
