The construction industry is constantly evolving, acting as a real-world laboratory dedicated to developing ever more effective and sustainable solutions. One such innovation is Bio-Attributed PVC, developed and manufactured by K\u00f6mmerling (part of the Profine Group). This material replaces fossil-based raw materials with renewable alternatives like pine oil. The result is a reduction of up to 90% in CO2 emissions, while still upholding the brand’s high-quality standards (as certified by ISO14001 for Environmental Management).
\nWhat’s more, Bio-Attributed PVC is 100% recyclable. Profine is actively working to improve recycling processes throughout the product’s entire lifecycle, with the ultimate goal of establishing a fully sustainable production cycle.
\nThe movement towards sustainability is gaining momentum, and Amtico Bio is leading the way with the development of the first bio-attributed luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring. This innovative flooring is manufactured using renewable ethylene sourced from carefully selected and audited biomass. As a result, it achieves carbon emission savings of over 90% compared to standard PVC flooring.
\nThis non-food biomass is a renewable organic material sourced from things like perennial grasses and crude tall oil (CTO), a by-product of paper manufacturing from fast-growing trees. CTO can be transformed into a range of useful carbon-based chemicals, including the renewable ethylene used in the flooring.
