Whilst few of us can afford a penthouse roof garden, flat roofs abound in Lanzarote and with a little imagination and landscaping they can be transformed into fabulous outdoor spaces<\/em><\/h3>\n

The leap from functional roof terrace to penthouse roof garden doesn’t have to be so giant. The main thing is to have a vision… then you can adapt your ideas and materials to suit your budget and still have a great space you can show off with pride. Imagination is very important, but so is inspiration.<\/p>\n

At this year’s Casa Decor exhibition, Madrid-based company Pia Paisajismo, owned by Jaime Rumeu Sant\u00edas, presented a roof terrace design in conjunction with Tarimatec cladding and flooring called ‘The Greening Room’. A concept which can be adapted to the space and resources you have available.<\/p>\n

The design incorporates trends such as biophilia, the love and affinity we have with nature, by making plants integral to the space. Alongside the greenery is sustainable flooring from Valencia-based firm Tarimatec, which manufactures and designs exterior decking made from recycled vegetable fibres such as rice husks.<\/p>\n

Micromortar was also used in finishes, for the entrance to the terrace and on the wall panels. Many of these products are made from 100% recycled materials from the seabed.<\/p>\n

You can put the finihsing touches to your terrace with natural grass and\/or creepers in flowerbeds, wood, bamboo or wicker furniture and natural cotton or linen cushions and throws (provided by Ecoplen in this project). The result will be an eco-friendly chill out and entertainment space with barely any carbon footprint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
