In 2006, the charitable association Ni\u00f1os del Tercer Mundo (NTM) began organising annual Christmas fayres in T\u00edas, Macher and Conil to raise funds for underprivileged children. Every year, the fayres featured a variety of stalls with refreshments, clothes, handicrafts, a tombola, a raffle, and even a visit from Santa Claus himself. Each event managed to raise nearly 2,000 euros for this good cause. Sadly, the British couple who founded NTM, Gill and Christopher David, have passed away, and the last fayre was held in 2021 at Finca La Florida.<br \/>\nFrom 2007 to 2012, T\u00edas Town Hall organised a Christmas craft market in the Plaza de las Naciones in Puerto del Carmen. It was inspired by the traditional Christkindlmarkt of Austria and Germany and initiated during Gertraud Gf\u00e4ller &#8211; Traudy&#8217;s &#8211; term as tourism councillor. The market was a delightful event, enjoyed for its selection of products, mulled wine and yuletide ambience.<br \/>\nChristmas markets on Lanzarote specialise in offering unique handmade gifts in a festive atmosphere with thoughtfully designed decorative stalls, twinkling lights and carols in the air. Several municipalities have confirmed their intention to host the event in 2023.<br \/>\nArrecife hasn\u2019t yet rubber-stamped venue or dates but is planning a Christmas craft market with gifts and a festive atmosphere reflecting its seaport traditions. After the success of the last few years, Teguise will host its own mercadillo in the Plaza de Los Leones in La Villa during the bank holiday in early December. It will feature crafts, Christmas decorations, music and typical sweet pastries called truchas.<br \/>\nAnother traditional Christmas craft market is held in Yaiza\u2019s Plaza de Los Remedios Square. This year&#8217;s market will take place on the 16th and 17th of December promising fifteen stalls, festive decorations, live carol singing, lights and more.
