Halfway between the latest cosmetic treatments and surgery, the thread lift has become an increasingly popular choice for those wanting to tackle the signs of ageing without going under the knife. It\u2019s certainly quicker and cheaper than many other cosmetic procedures, more effective than hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin (both for occasional use), and less invasive than surgery.<\/p>\n

Silhouette Soft 12 cones, from Sinclair Pharma, is a bioresorbable suture with a 360\u00b0 cone structure. This innovative technology achieves better results with fewer threads, offering a unique treatment for reshaping and tightening sagging skin on the face and neck.<\/p>\n

Patients can be reassured that Silhouette Soft has required six years of research and development on permanent suspension sutures with cones used in plastic and reconstructive surgery. It is manufactured in the United States, where it is ISO 13485 internationally certified, and is CE-labelled for the European market.<\/p>\n

The procedure repositions tissue which has sagged due to collagen depletion as we age. The medical-grade threads are inserted through a tiny hole in the centre of the treatment area under the epidermis, using two ultra-fine needles; one going upwards and the other downwards. By pulling on the threads, the skin is drawn taut, lifting and tightening wrinkled skin. Despite all this talk of needles and threads, we are assured that the treatment is completely painless.<\/p>\n

Bidirectional cones are inserted to hold the threads in place. Problem areas that can be corrected using this innovative dermal device include the so-called ‘triangle of youth’ (nasolabial folds & marionette lines), for which Silhouette Soft 8 cones are recommended, whilst Silhouette 12 cones are more effective in redefining the jawline because of their greater traction power.<\/p>\n

Each of these threads helps tighten the skin and restore lost facial volume by stimulating the internal structures of the tissue and enhancing natural collagen production. This produces a lifting effect with immediate results. However, results are temporary as the Polydioxanone (PDO) and Polylactic Acid (PLLA) in the threads are reabsorbed.
