Lanzarote\u2019s southernmost tourist resort boasts an exceptional climate, superb amenities, and an excellent standard of living<\/em><\/h3>\n

Playa Blanca has grown considerably over the last twenty years, yet it has retained its charm. Its exceptional climate that ensures year-round sunshine and gentle breezes, its location, just opposite Fuerteventura and close to Timanfaya, together with its ample amenities, make Playa Blanca an ideal place for residents and tourists alike.<\/p>\n

Its coastline runs from Papagayo to the Pechiguera lighthouse along an eleven-kilometre promenade that stretches from Torre del \u00c1guila to Monta\u00f1a Roja. At the heart of Playa Blanca is the charming old harbour with its small beach and promenade lined with shops and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Work on Playa Blanca\u2019s enlarged port has recently been completed thanks to an EU investment of forty million euros. The port can now cater for leisure and fishing vessels as well as the ferries to Fuerteventura and medium-sized or ’boutique’ cruise ships. Its new facilities include an improved passenger terminal and a larger car park. The project is expected to bring about a significant commercial and economic revival in the surrounding area and in Playa Blanca as a whole.<\/p>\n

In the other direction, to the left of the old harbour, numerous shops, restaurants, terraces, and ice-cream parlours line the promenade that extends all the way to Playa Dorada, with its two large hotels, and then on to Marina Rubic\u00f3n. Just before you get to the marina, a huge hotel is currently being built. The large shopping centre, Rubic\u00f3n Shop & Fun greets visitors alongside the elegant marina with its selection of boutiques, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities. Beyond the marina, more hotels, residential areas, restaurants and shopping centres run right up to the entrance to the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, where the spectacular Papagayo coves are located.<\/p>\n

Of course, Playa Blanca extends further inland too, where there has been significant investment in new infrastructure. The new municipal sports pavilion behind the bus terminal invites locals and tourists to make use of its indoor football, basketball and handball courts. Nearby, an extension to the health centre is soon to be built and next to the Secondary School, a football pitch with artificial turf is due to be opened. What\u2019s more, in the area around Monta\u00f1a Roja, land has been earmarked for social housing. Drivers will welcome the new Papagayo and Fem\u00e9s road, which is sure to ease traffic congestion and public transport users will appreciate the good connections both within the resort and with the
